Keeping a child busy at home is not an easy task for any mom. It can be hard to fill an 8+ hour day with enjoyable activities for your little one. No matter what age they may be. Luckily I found some fun ideas to try with my son that I'm going to share with you so that you can have just as much fun as we had. Now this one can get messy so I recommend doing it before bath time depending how old your little one is. And all you need are 2 ingredients you can already find in your home! It's that simple!
To make moonsand you will need cooking or baby oil and flour. That's it. I recommend that you use baby oil because after the kids get done playing with it, they will smell great. :) I used vegetable oil though, because my son is 6 months and is still in the 'I want to eat everything phase'. So just in case we had an accident and he tried to put some in his mouth (which surprisingly he didn't) I didn't want to worry if it would be toxic or not. But since he didn't try to eat it, I'm definitely going to be using baby oil next time. I also had a spare bin laying around so I used it to put the moonsand in for an easy clean up.
It is 8 cups of flour for every one cup of oil. You can double it or cut it in half depending on how much you want to make. So if you made 16 cups of flour, you would put in 2 cups if oil. If you have some beach pails, take them out and build sand castles! Here are some pictures of our moonsand fun...Enjoy!
